An Supply chain Management course assignment on designing a possible Pull strategy for the Swine Flu Vaccine.

Product: Vaccine for Prevention of Swine flu

Pull strategy:

In a "pull" system the consumer requests the product and "pulls" it through the delivery channel.

§  Applied to that portion of the supply chain where demand uncertainty is high
§  Production and distribution are demand driven
§  No inventory, response to specific orders
§  Point of sale (POS) data comes in handy when shared with supply chain partners
§  Decrease in lead time
§  Difficult to implement

Example: Production of Swine flu vaccines

Swine flu is an epidemic disease which spreads from person to person. There were no medicines for curing this disease. Many people lost their lives. There was a need for medicines which can cure the disease. After extensive research scientists have developed a vaccine for curing this disease. Today there are many such vaccines available in global market.

Example- Vaxiflu-S

Since the product was introduced into market to cater the need of people ,this product is placed in the system of pull strategy.
